KYBELLA™ injection is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment that contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness, sometimes referred to as “double chin”. Fat cells are killed and eliminated by your body while surrounding tissues are unaffected.
1-5 treatment sessions may be required; each requires 1-2 vials of KYBELLA™. Dr. Brahmatewari will customize your KYBELLA™ treatment regimen, including how many treatments you need, based on the amount of submental fat you need to lose and your desired chin profile. Dr. Brahmatewari will administer a series of injections spaced a month or more apart. Many patients see visible contouring after 2 treatments.
KYBELLA™ destroys fat cells when injected into the fat beneath your chin. Once the aesthetic goal is achieved, re-treatment is not expected.
The active ingredient in KYBELLA™ is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.
When injected into the fat beneath your chin, KYBELLA™ causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.
